NET CRAMAN Lawyers sponsored the first Investment Forum Spain – China held in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province on May 16th and 17th.
The Secretary of State for Trade, María Luisa Poncela, attended the event, organized by ICEX & INVEST IN SPAIN in cooperation with the Economic and Trade Office of Spain in Guangzhou.
More than 30 Spanish firms and 220 local companies attended the Forum and around 100 business roundups were planned.
The main goal of this forum was to identify opportunities for investment and business cooperation, as well as potential partners in the Chinese market, while promoting, consolidating, and strengthening the visibility of Spanish companies within this market.
The main industries in which investment opportunities were identified are: environment (water management and waste treatment), automotive components, Smart Cities, agricultural technology, education, innovation, industrial design and robotics.
Mr. Álvaro de Luis, Partner of NET CRAMAN in Asia, and Mr. Álvaro Hernández-Puértolas, Partner and head of the Corporate Department, were invited to participate as speakers. The first seminar was addressed to those Spanish companies part of the trade mission travelling to Guangzhou, and revolved around legal safety in direct investments in China, whereas the second one was addressed to Chinese investors and read about the tax and legal framework in Spain.
Other participating authorities were Mr. José Carlos García de Quevedo, CEO of Spain’s Public Investment Agency, and the Guangdong’s CCPIT President. Mr. Lin Tao.
